Teaching Philosophy

Over the last ten years, it has brought me a special joy to teach music to my students. I mentor students of all levels and ages with patience, kindness and passion, so they can enjoy the process of learning music and take their skills with them for the rest of their lives.

Music training is incomplete without a mastery of fundamental skills and concepts, such as sight-reading, sense of rhythm, healthy technique, music theory and history, and performance etiquette. Not only are these skills transferable to other disciplines, they are also useful for a lifetime of learning and music-making. To hone these skills, it is imperative students practice daily, are prepared for lessons, and most importantly, have a positive attitude and are excited to learn. Students are most empowered by developing problem solving skills, which is why I aspire to understand each student’s unique needs and encourage them to develop their own initiative and ideas. I teach using a wide array of teaching methods and classical repertoire to creatively address each individual's goals to inspire them to be dedicated and sincerely enthusiastic about their studies. Students are encouraged to perform in bi-annual recitals held at the Greenwich House Music School to polish their pieces, develop confidence in performance, and celebrate their hard work. Studying piano has enriched my life in ways I would have never imagined, and I hope to pass along a life-long love of learning onto each of my students.

I am a member of New York City Piano Teachers Congress, The Dvořák American Heritage Association, The Leschestizky Association, and Music Teachers National Association. I am currently accepting private students in NYC.
